USB Internet phone handset
for VoIP
Overview
The TigerJet USB handset
reference design enables a
phone handset to be interfaced via the USB to Windows. Our design uses a
standard phone codec as the audio interface. The only additional active
component is the Tiger560 chip, a small number of low cost passives
completes the design and adds up to a very elegant solution.
Using the Tiger560 which has
been designed to conform to Microsoft's USB Audio specification enables
the use of the Microsoft USB audio driver that is provided as part of
Windows (XP, 2000, 98). The audio from the handset is available
in Windows as a standard sound device, so all of the popular Internet
phone applications such as MSN Messenger, Net2phone etc. are supported.
By using a regular handset to
place Internet phone calls, the inconvenience and problems of attempting to
use the existing PC sound card as a speaker phone are avoided. In addition the use of the
USB enables quick and easy installation.
Our USB Internet phone
handset
makes the experience of placing an Internet phone call exactly
the same as if you are placing a regular call.
TigerJet can provide a full
set of manufacturing information to enable you to quickly
