Personal Phone Gateway - Network configuration

Overview

If you have a single PC and it is directly connected to the Internet, you do not need to make any network configuration changes.

If you have a local network with multiple PCs and your network connects to the Internet via Internet sharing hardware (router, HomePortal,) or an application such as ICS running on a PC - please read read on.


Directing data from ports 1720 and 6667 to the PC with Personal Phone Gateway

The PC that has your Personal Phone Gateway installed needs to have port 1720 (also known as NetMeeting) and port 6667 (also known as IRC server) directed to it from your HomePortal, router or Internet access application.

There are various ways to direct ports 1720 and 6667 to the PC with the PPG installed depending on how the Internet connection is shared.
