Audio settings

One way audio

One way audio where first party can hear the second party, but the second party cannot hear the first party. The most common is having the volume set to zero (turned down) or the mute box is checked.

Some audio applications will adjust volumes of audio devices that they are not using.

Ensure that when you speak the volume indicator bar flashes green then yellow.

Telling Windows which audio device to use

Your Internet phone will operate as a standard audio device, in some situations Windows may get confused as to which device to use. If this occurs you may have phone call audio coming out of your speakers and/or computer sounds coming out of your Internet Phone.

This is an easy issue to fix, please follow the instructions below;

IMPORTANT

close IP Phone Center first

Click "Start"

Click "Settings"

Click "Control panel"

Click "Multimedia"

Set the "Preferred device" to your sound card

Ensure that "Use only preferred" devices in NOT checked

Click "OK"

The preferred device is the one used by Windows for the standard PC audio and will be the device used by any program that is happy to use the default audio device.

Unchecking the "Use only preferred devices" enables the IP Phone Center to choose the Internet phone audio device to make calls.

Note the actual name of your sound card will be different from the example above but should be easy to spot when you scroll down the options.
